Week Five (February 11-17)
This week, I painted.
For BCM's Black Future Festival and for myself.
Below image reads "Go back to the past and bring forward that which is useful". It's a translation of the word sankofa. Another, more simple translation of the word is "go back and get it". But, that wouldn't look so good on a banner in a children's museum.

These are some sankofa birds. Or, as I have been endearingly calling them in my head: my sankofa chickens. They depict a bird turned around to pick up an egg with its mouth which represents bringing knowledge from the past to inform how we act now.

Thanks to Ramon for holding up these paintings in the bathroom so I could document them with some decent lighting.

I still have some more work to do on this one. A nice yellow color coming soon.

Adios,
Kay
